Bible Verse of the Week - Ephesians 4:7-8

Verse:

7 But to each one of us, grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. 8 This is why it[a] says:

“When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people.”

What it reveals:

This verse reveals that each of us has received a specific portion of grace that was left behind for us because of Christ. This means that God didn't forget anyone when it came to receiving grace. He made sure that we would all have access to it, and there's a reason for that. We need His grace because it carries us through our faith. It's like an anchor that makes room for us. This tells me that He does care about me as well as you.

The verses together reveal that He has the whole world in His hands and that He has specific blessings waiting for us. When I think about this, I can't help but smile because His grace isn't only given, but its the benefit of accepting Jesus and allowing Him to take His place in my heart and life. Each of us has been given the grace to receive, accept, and serve the Lord, and when we do this, we become his people and accept the invitation to be blessed by Him (gifts). These gifts are the Holy Spirit, forgiveness, freedom, purpose, and the talent we need to fulfill our calling. It's up to us to accept His grace so that we can take everything else that comes from being His.

This week I want you to spend some time thinking about when you might have you not accepted His grace over your situation. Then, think about how you could've handled things differently. What could you have done differently to 1st, be aware of the grace, and 2nd understand that there was grace and 3rd, understand the purpose of the grace?

Coming to an understanding here can help you change your approach and thinking in every situation in your life. And remember God's grace for you isn't going to run out. He's portioned your amount just for you, and He knows how much you're going to need.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for your grace, and thank you for the gifts you've given me. I couldn't have asked for or earned your grace, you've just freely given it to me, and I'm thankful. I pray that I would pay close attention to the grace that you've set aside for me and that I would know when it is you at work. I pray that I receive your grace so I can accept everything you have for me. In Jesus' name, amen!
